What are your background and education?

Prior to working for Washington University, I was a Patient Care Tech at Barnes Hospital since 1999. Then, I attended St. Louis College of Health Careers, graduated in 2003 where I received my certification as a Medical Assistant.

Why do you love what you do? I love working with our IBD patients and families to help them better themselves.  I enjoy having conversations with the patients, and hearing how happy they are because they understand what is going on and how to deal with it.  We also try to make them feel special in other ways that are not related to IBD.   Sometimes they just need someone to listen to, almost like being a mentor or a counselor.  There are many patients that recognize my voice from over the years of calling the office.  I am just one of the friendly voices patients hear when they contact our office for any reason.

What are your career goals?

I have gained so much knowledge over the past 9 years; I am very enthusiastic to learn as new things arise with the treatment of this disease.   I am furthering my education toward a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

I am very compassionate about my work and a caring mother of three. I love to travel, shop, and enjoy family time with my family and friends. I have a smile that is very contagious and would brighten anyone’s day or night.
