How long have you been in the medical field?
I have been a Registered Nurse for 22 years.
What are your background and education?
I earned my ADN from Jewish College of Nursing in 1995. I started my nursing career in Telemetry, Step Down unit for medical and surgical patients at the old Jewish Hospital. After being there for 3 years, I moved to Postpartum at Barnes for the next 12 years. Prior to joining the IBD Center, I worked for the Washington University OBGYN Department with the generalists group doing phone triage for GYN and OB patients for over 10 years.
Why do you love what you do?
I love taking care of people and trying to make them feel comfortable when they are going through various health issues over the span of their lives. I really enjoy learning new information in the health field. I can’t imagine myself ever doing anything else.
What are your career goals?
My career goals are to find my niche’ in the nursing field, and learn as much as possible to better serve and educate both myself, and the patients for which I care.
What is one fun fact about yourself?
I also work for a company that staffs the first aid rooms at various venues throughout St. Louis. I have been lucky enough to see and hear many concerts and sporting events over the last 5 years. It is a pretty benign job, and has been a great way of meeting so many new people.
